Have you ever felt like you’ve lost touch with your true self, to the point that you no longer know how to live in a way that honors the reality of who you are—that creative part of yourself that you know is there but yet feels so…distant?

I most definitely have. In fact, this entire blog was built from a period of my life when I knew the way I was trying to get things done did not align with what came naturally to me or the needs of who I am.

I was setting rigid daily schedules for myself when deep down I knew that doing so only made me feel burdened, not purposeful. I tried to bang things out and do them fast, when I knew that I felt much better when I gave myself time. And I tried to stick to being practical, when I knew that in reality I was a dreamer, with notebooks full of ideas and hopes that I just couldn’t let go of.

I need to be slow in a world that goes fast. And I need to think deep in a world that seems to be a never ending treadmill of rootless trends.

In my burned out, depressed, but functioning funk, I realized that I hadn’t really lost touch with my creativity as I had feared. What I had lost touch with is what works for my true, authentic, creative self.

This blog is sprawling and has hundreds of posts. So here I’m collecting five essays that share what I learned from the process of reconnecting with myself. But these posts aren’t just about me. They are designed to help you do the same.

As a tip, don’t try to do everything from these posts. Instead pick one small practice that you feel fits what you need the most right now.

So here are five essays for reconnecting with your true, creative self. All of these essays are taken from my much larger Quiet Room collection:

I Wish Everyone Had More Compassion For Their Inner Child

The life changing impact of shopping for my 12-year-old self.

Two Simple Self-Reflection Questions for Connecting With Your Intuition

What you sense within often points to what you truly need.

Why I Started Trusting My Inner Creative Compass

The thought process behind recreating a connection with my true creative self.

The Craft of Effective Digital Vision Boarding

I Used Ikigai to Find Creative Clarity

If you’ve enjoyed this essay collection and found something that you really want to apply, that’s fantastic. But if you also realized that you crave personalized support and guidance for integrating whatever spoke to you, and you are ready to bring what’s true for you into the reality of your life, here’s how to work with me.
